CHICAGO – Gelato artisans Angelo Lollino and Ali Caine Hung will represent Vero Coffee and Gelato to compete in the Gelato World Tour at Millennium Park Chase Promenade South, May 27 through May 29, 2016.
At this three-day event, Lollino and Hung will be vying for the title of “World’s Best Gelato” against fifteen teams from all over the world with their signature flavor, ‘Chicago Pot Hole’.
Chicago Pot Hole is the perfect tribute to the “Windy City” as no one handles rocky roads like a Chicagoan. This signature gelato creation combines single-origin heirloom Cocoa from Ecuador which is emulsified then variegated with Vero’s nutty chocolate sauce. Roasted and caramelized pecans, dark chocolate chunks, and marshmallow inspired meringue are added to make this a one-of- a-kind gelato experience.
“We are proud of the flavor we have created and we are excited to compete among some of the world’s finest gelato artisans.” Lollino said. “I’m excited the competition is taking place in my hometown of Chicago, proud home to Vero Coffee and Gelato.”
Gelato World Tour is a gelato competition and festival that travels to major cities around the world in search of the best gelato artisans. Festival-goers can purchase a ticket to taste and vote for flavors produced daily on-site by the final sixteen teams.
The top three teams from this round will move onto the Grand Finale being held in Italy in September 2017 with the winner being awarded the title of “World’s Best Gelato.”
